PTE Essay Engine: Structure, Templates, Language and 50 Drills

Problem: PTE essays collapse under 20-minute pressure — no structure survives, templates misfire, language simplifies. Answer in brief: install the 4-paragraph engine (position, reason, reason, close) with stocked templates and academic language, then drill 50 full essays until the engine runs itself. This guide teaches the engine with a timed build, and PTE Writing — Course 1 trains structure, templates and language across 10 topic sections.

The 4-paragraph engine

P1: rephrase plus position (two sentences). P2: reason one with example/detail. P3: reason two with example/detail. P4: restated position with implication. 200–300 words in 20 minutes: roughly 4/7/7/2 minutes per paragraph with checking inside drafting. The engine never varies — pressure-proof writing is invariant writing.

Templates that survive pressure

Introduction template (rephrase + stance), body template (topic sentence + development + example + link), conclusion template (restate + implication). Templates must be flexible frames, never memorised wholes — examiners and scoring systems both discount template language that mismatches the task. Practise templates on varied questions until filling feels natural.

Language stocked per paragraph

Introductions: rephrase frames and stance lines. Body: development linkers, example introducers, concession frames. Conclusions: restaters and implication lines. Academic vocabulary stocked by function (cause, compare, evaluate) rather than by topic — function stocks transfer everywhere.

E-50: the full drill set method

Fifty essays, same engine: attempt timed, compare against models for one lesson, log it, apply next time. Five essays weekly for ten weeks. The set’s power is sameness — identical method fifty times installs what varied advice cannot: reflex.

FAQs

How long per essay in practice?

Twenty minutes exam-timed, always. Untimed practice builds prose; timed practice builds scores. Both needed, timed dominant.

How many words should PTE essays be?

200–300 words: below risks underdevelopment, above risks error accumulation. Count during practice until the band feels automatic.

What is in the course?

Ten topic sections on essay structure with templates, language and the 50-essay drill set, 125 lessons and 5 complete mock tests.
