A total score tells you how a practice attempt went. It does not tell you what to study next. A short revision map can turn wrong answers and uncertain guesses into a useful plan.
The first mixed practice set in The British Path combines questions about history, geography, institutions and culture, followed by explanations. This guide shows how to study those explanations instead of memorising answer letters.
Keep official study material at the centre
GOV.UK says the test is based on the official Guide for New Residents. Use the current official material for your core preparation. Jobins Training practice is supplementary and independent; it is not the official test or a prediction of its questions.
Record why an answer was difficult
Separate a missing fact from a misread question. You might confuse two dates, mistake a capital for another city or overlook which institution the question names. Each error suggests a different revision action.
Original revision-log example
| Difficulty | Next action |
|---|---|
| Two historical events confused | Put them on a short timeline with one distinguishing fact each. |
| Institution and role confused | Write a role comparison using the official guide. |
| Question misread | Underline the person, place or period being asked about. |
Improve this revision note
Weak note: “Question 6 is B.”
Useful note: “I need to distinguish the named institution's role from the other roles in the options.”
The useful note survives a change in option order and directs you back to the topic.
Check recall without the options
Close the answer panel and explain the fact in your own words. Later, revisit it in a differently worded question. Include correct guesses in your review when you could not explain your choice.
Aim to build understanding across the official material rather than repeatedly chasing a higher score on the same familiar set. Review dates and current arrangements against official guidance where relevant.
